Life is a journey full of
choices. And everyone is going
somewhere. Some take an easy
path, the others a road less
traveled. One leads to
destruction, the other to life.
Which way are you going?
People from all ages have had
to decide how to deal with this
choice. Back in the day—when the
church was just getting
started—before the word
“Christian” was in the picture,
people who followed Jesus were
simply called “followers of the
Way.”
The disciples—the ones we
know as “the 12,” set the pace
when they left their boats,
nets, families and friends to
follow Christ. They were
obedient and they exemplified
how believers are to follow. And
that’s how the movement began.
It was radical. And so it was
described in Acts 19:23---“About
that time there arose a great
disturbance about the Way.”
What about for you? Does your
life’s direction cause a
disturbance? Or are you content
to go with the flow? Jesus told
the story in Matthew 7:14, “But
small is the gate and narrow the
road that leads to life, and
only a few find it.” He knows
the challenge and has provided
all we need to follow him.
The initial decision to follow
Christ is pivotal without a doubt,
but as long as we are in this world
we are constantly deciding which
nature to feed, what god to serve,
which way to go. It’s a process.
Student Life Camp ’08 will
provide an opportunity to step
back, check the landscape of
life across the ages, evaluate
where you

Camp Pastor: David
Edwards travels the
country full time, speaking to
young adults in churches and a
variety of other places.
Regardless of the setting,
whether in the pulpit, on stage
at a summer camp, in a large
arena, at a City Wide Young
Adult Bible Study, or in a high
school, David's message is
simple: Helping students and
young adults discover the
importance of a Christ-centered
lifestyle.
A gifted communicator, David
speaks from his heart about
issues relevant to Gen X.
He is the author of the book
One Step Closer, Holy and
Acceptable, the creator
of the
Destinations video
series, and has written a tract
called “How to Make Life All
Good.” A collection of his
messages are available on
compact disc.
David has a heart for young
adults. A member of Gen X
himself, he knows firsthand the
world of this generation. He
helps them discover the
importance of a Christ-centered
life style. David masterfully
applies Biblical truths to
current issues of the day in an
honest, humorous, and
understandable form.
David's mission is to
reintroduce the truth of God's
Word by meeting people where
they are in life and bringing
them one step closer to knowing
and becoming like Jesus Christ.
Worship
Leader: Todd Agnew
is an inspired worship leader
and recording artist. His debut
song from his debut album,
Grace Like Rain, hit #1
on the Christian radio charts.
The album was nominated for a
Dove Award for Rock/Contemporary
Album of the Year, and the
album's song "This Fragile
Breath" was nominated for
Rock/Contemporary Song of the
Year. Todd was also Dove
Award-nominated for New Artist
of the Year.
He was selected as the
Breakthrough Artist for Worship
Leader Magazine's 2003 Praise
Awards. He is also featured on
the album,
In the Name of Love: Artists
United for Africa.
Prior to beginning his recording
career, Todd was a worship
leader for several local
churches. "My focus when I play
as a worship leader is to
worship honestly. If you can't
sing something honestly, don't
sing it; you're not fooling
God," Todd says. Todd makes his
home in Memphis, Tennessee.

WORSHIP
Each evening at camp, your
students will experience
authentic worship and engaging
teaching in corporate Worship.
Some of the country's best
Worship Leaders will participate
in praise and worship, and the
Camp Pastor will bring a
compelling message that builds
on the camp theme. Like all
group worship events at camp,
corporate Worship includes a
fully designed backdrop that
serves as the set for All Things
To All People (AT2AP) actors.
All Things To All People will
lead students in the theme
development through the week as
they use the arts to illustrate
the week's biblical truths. Many
worship services include
opportunities for your students
to be involved in leading
worship. While we draw from
modern technology and
multi-media, our goal is
facilitating an experience where
people can draw close to God. We
hold the integrity of worship in
the highest regard and it is our
focus, not video screens or
sound systems.
FAMILY GROUPS
Family Groups and corporate
worship services make up the two
most important parts of camp. A
Family Group is 9-12 students
and a few adult leaders who meet
for Bible study, prayer
gatherings, and mission work
sites. Family Groups are
designed to foster intimacy,
honesty, and accountability. You
can decide if you want your
students to be in a Family Group
with students from other
churches (Combined), or if you'd
rather they were on their own
(Independent). Family Groups are
split into junior (rising
7th-9th grade) and senior
(rising 10th-12th grade)
divisions. Note: Mission Camp
participants will all be placed
in independent Family Groups.
Family Groups-in fact all
components of Student Life
Camp-are designed to give Youth
Ministers a break from
responsibility so that they can
focus on building relationships
with their students. One of the
greatest aspects of Student Life
Camp is that we free you to be
what God has called you to be--a
Youth Minister. We also believe
in investing in the local church
by having adults from your
church lead Family Groups. This
may be intimidating to many
leaders at first, but many of
those same leaders will become
some of your best youth workers
in the future.
RECREATION
Every full camp day, students
enjoy two hours of Recreation.
During Recreation students
participate in group-building
activities through initiative
activities, water games, and
some competitive activities. The
Camp Theme and Scripture may be
incorporated in Recreation
throughout the week, reinforcing
the holistic approach to the
Student Life experience.
Recreation Leaders (part of the
Student Life staff) oversee all
activities. The goal of this
time is to build the small group
so Bible Study time will be more
effective.
CELEBRATION
After students begin the day
with their church in quiet time,
they will join the rest of the
camp in Morning Celebration, a
high-energy worship service.
Camp Pastors bring students
compelling truth centered on the
camp theme. Gifted Worship
Leaders lead students in
authentic worship. Student Life
embraces many facets of
technology to help students
engage in the worship
experience. The morning session
includes original short films,
daily camp news presented in a
humorous way, and updates from
the recreation fields, mission
sites, and other activities. As
with all corporate worship
events at camp, Celebration
includes a fully designed set
for All Things to All People
(AT2AP) actors.
